Holiday cookie tins and tablecloth straight from this year’s Alliance Holiday Bazaar created a festive atmosphere for December’s Board meeting, held Monday evening, December 19th in the Assembly Room. Along with enjoying refreshments of cookies, cupcakes, flavored coffee and mulled apple cider, the Board conducted business as usual. One feature to this church year’s agenda has been a visit with lay leaders representing committees associated with board governance. In October, we learned more about the charter and activities of the Personnel Committee and in November we heard from 1U’s Endowment Board. This month, Kathy H shared some of the history and areas of responsibility for 1U’s Leadership Development Committee (LDC). In addition to learning more about LDC, Kathy’s presentation was followed with a discussion that shed light on areas for collaboration, shared challenges, and opportunities to reflect on concerns.
